Trapper,
I do not know where the old shortmag.com site got off to, but.... This data was what I found on that site and it is the data I use in my two 300 WSM guns today. The guns are custom rifles built on the Montana Rifle Company 1999 short action. The brass is WW nickel once fired and the primers are Fed 210.

168gr Hornady BTHPMatch VVN 560 at 74gr for 3,210 fps at .50 group at 100 OAL 3.050
180gr Sierra FBSP Pro Hunter VVN 560 at 72gr for 3,009 fps at .88 group at 100 OAL 3.070

VVN or VN 560 was the only powder I found that would duplicate the 300 WM without getting way over pressure in the 300 WSM. I took the two loads, exactly as shown, to South Africa with me. Good luck and, as always, drop down a bit and work up, especially if you are shooting a Winchester without a throat.
Best,
Ed
