I bet you a brew I have more cottontail rabbits in my neighborhood that you have on your south 40. I live just a little west of Boston and there on tons of them around. I just don't know why. Years ago it was skunks and they are gone. Then the possums came and went. Now its rabbits.
I haven't seen a cottontail in the wild in over a year.
