I have been doing photos this way since 2001, and have thousands of them. I back everything up weekly and pull the photos from my camera flash card pretty often and back them up right afterward. Then, I keep one of the backup harddrives at my parents' place and another in a safety deposit box to make sure that should my house burn down, I still have everything from the past 10 years, and possibly more.

Unfortunately, you are talking to someone who is pretty much computer illiterate (or moreover, computer idiot).....some days I have trouble finding the "ON" button.
However, my daughter can probably teach me enough to do these things if I ask her.....so I'll ask her. I like the idea of keeping the back ups in the safety deposit box (as well as your other suggestions), so I will look in to doing what you've suggested. Thank you for the tip.
