Planted Chufas for the Turkeys

Last spring I planted about two acres of Chufas on my 200 yard rifle range. They got to looking kind of scraggly so I mowed them with the bush hog to see if they would fill out like mowing a grass might. Then it stopped raining and now the range looks pretty weedy in most places. Amazing how weeds grow when everything else wilts and dies. Seems like the Chufas do not take to mowing much or to a lack of water. Seems like my fist planting of brown top millet was a much better idea. I might disk it all up and plant some sorgum or millet in a week or so to see if I can get something in place for the turkeys and quail.
