In my one experience with them (probably back in the 60's) I found the same thing as Skeet and Mr. 16 Guage - they were a pain in the butte to use and went through batteries like Sherman thru Georgia. The ones I had didn't even heat up all that well - IMHO they were a gimmick at best.
