Let's hear it for the old farts!
Upon doing a little research, I've found that all of the cartridges that I use for hunting, with the exception of one, is more than 100 years old!
.30/30 Winchester: 1894
6.5x55 Swede :1894
.30-06 :1906
.35 Remington :1906
The only round that I hunt with that is less than 100 is the .223 Remington (I have a M1A1 in .308, but I don't hunt with that one....much).
In addition, I shoot the .38 special and 9mm (1902 & 1904, respectively). And looking my handgun selection, they are all 'old' as well.....25 ACP, .38 Super, .30 Luger, .357 magnum, .44 magnum (the youngest, 1954.....it's still older than me!).
So am I missing something by not shooting the latest Ubermagnum? I don't think so......I'm wondering why more folks aren't 'rediscovering' the oldies?
