I had to laugh when you said working on a Garand "was a 3 handed job." Back in 1967 I was in college under the G.I. Bill and was shooting monthly high power matches at the local club using my Garand. I broke an extractor in practice and went home to put in a GI replacement extractor. I followed the book and spent half a day until I finally heard it "Snap" into place. I later learned to use the combo tool for the requisite third hand for such jobs.
