Been Elkie hunting. Was in my hunting area last Thursday. Saw plenty elks..more'n plenty in fact. They were herded up on the bare slope and no way to get within a half mile. 800-900 in one herd. Some smaller herds. But best I could do was about 750 yds according to the Leica....Then a 3 mile hump back as no 4 wheelers up there even real hard on horses..2 steps forward..one back. I honestly think I could make that shot..with no wind...but that just doesn't happen up there..then the snow dropped over the mountain.. Temps went from 40 degrees down to 10 in 20 minutes.. we were huinting at about 8800 ft not enough air for my lungs up there...LOL... 14 below later that night a thousand feet lower at the ranch house. Friend killed her first elk.. at about 20 yds in another area. She was tickled to put it mildly..Told me about it in a blow by blow at the gun show. We're going to hunt 'em in another area later this week..she's pumped and wants another one. Another gal I know got a great mulie. She showed pics at the show too. Sold a bunch of stuff to a fellow from Illinois at the gun show..who missed his at about 200 yds...and to put it mildly..was a bit miffed at his rifle. it was more than 2 ft high..musta bumped the scope or maybe put it in the scabbard wrong. but he was still miffed. Has 3 more days of hunting..then home. I gave him a great deal on an Encore bbl in 280 Rem
