The range I am a member at require a "Range Officer" to be present at all times.
As a range officer it is your responisbility to make sure any shooters under your "DIRECT" supervision are safe and following the rules.
To become a certified range officer you are required to take a safety course through the shooting club. Takes about 8 hours, and just makes sure you are familiar with the range safety rules, with an exam at the end.
To become a range member you already have to have taken a firearm safety course, which is required in Canada to obtain a firearm license.
