Great Customer Support from Armscor

My son, Denny, bought 2 Rock Island Armory 1911's: a full size and a compact. Both worked great, and the full sized one ate several 1000 rounds. The compact started dropping the firing pin.

Denny contacted them by phone, and their gunsmith, Brian, told him to send it in. To save money on shipping, Denny asked to send just the slide, and Brian OK'ed it.

Time passed with no word. I started reminding Denny to check on the gun. Denny gets transferred to Ft. Wainright, AK (Fairbanks). I continue to nag. Denny gets deployed to Iraq and I continue to nag. Denny returns from Iraq. I quit nagging and contact Ivan at Armscor.

Ivan at Armscor was more than helpfull. I told him that I didn't expect him to be responsable for Denny's mess, but could he help. Ivan told me that Brian had left, and that it was company policy to accept complete guns only for repair so they could have a serial number for tracking. He then said he would take care of the problem, just send in the gun, but it would take a while since he had no short slides on hand, they were backordered.

I sent the frame in without grips on September 1, 2006. On November 2, 2006 the gun came back, in a new hard case, with a new slide, a new set of grips and two mags. It looked brand new. I checked the serial number just to see if Ivan had just shipped me a new gun, but it was the original gun.

We all are quick to fuss about poor customer service. I think Armscor and Ivan should be commended. Ivan steped up and fixed a problem that he didn't make, and went above and beyond my expectations.

Fellas, this is not a $1000.00 gun. This is a working mans' 11911 made in the Phillpines and priced very reasonably. The guns are very well made and customer support is there for the customer.

Good report, Mickey.

I've never owned a .45 auto (horrors!) mainly because I only want a fun shooter and not a high-end competition racegun or mega-custom combat gun.

What's the price range on Armscor .45's?

About $300.00 depending on where & who you buy it thru. We paid $225.00 for them.

One of the gun rags did a test of a Kimber, a Springfield (I think) and an Armscor. It was a torture test. The Armscor passed with flying colors.
