gift for a land owner
i came across the farmer who has been nice enough to let me park up his drive way and kill ducks/geese/pheasants/deer for the past ten years and i got to thinking i sent a card for xmas one year but other than that i have not repaid the big debt i owe.
any ideas, he doesnt hunt. i thought maybe this weekend dropping off a bottle of red and a mixed bag of burger/steak/roasts from the one i got there last wed. any other ideas of something i could give, losing hunting spots fast i would like to kiss a little but to keep the ones i have kt

Offer to help him around the farm if he needs it. It actually ends up working out better because you get to spend some time with the guy and become better friends with him, versus just dropping off some food and drink. Then, around Christmas time give the land owners a ham and/or bottle of what they drink. Thing is finding out what they really like to drink. For instance, Walker Red would be lost on my dad because he is a whiskey and cognac guy. A bottle of Remy Martin would get you a lot more gratitude than Walker Red.

Been known to help bail hay quite a few times, even to just hunt groundhogs. Give the guy your number and tell him "don't hesitate to call come harvest season or if you need a hand around the place"
That in itself should be worth it's weight in gold, even if he doesn't cash in on the offer. An offer to help when needed is probably more than most receive.

I agree with Fabs, years ago, back in Texas, I did every thing from fence build to branding and cutting calves on the places we leased. Had a ball and also learned a tremendous amount about
the people and ranching. Actually, I was welcome year round on these places!

these are all great ways to repay the farmers. In my case, there is an area on the property that had many old tires piled up from the previous land owner. Now, instead of firewood in my old pick up, you guessed it, 47 old tires. Made the farmer alot happier than my wife. Luckly, there's a cement company near me that is taking up to 50 tires per person at no charge next week. I'll have to sacrafice one morning hunt, but it's worth it in many ways.

Offer the farmer some of your deer meat or whatever else you get on his farm. You'd be surprised how many farmers will gladly take some already dressed meat and will be glad for you to come back so you can get him some more...lol
It's a very good habit to get into for fishin too.

I am giving my guy two tickets to our NWTF Banquet and at least they can have a nice supper and some fun for leting me hunt.
