Winchester 67
OK a competing shop in the area has ONE winchester 67 22 that is in rough condition. She will go $100 cash out the door, but that is it. I have done buisness with her alot and like the shop, but I dunno about the $100. Up side is this gun has dovetailed sights so I could replace front and rear with marbles sights.
Any opinions on the Winchester VS the Remmy? Answer quick PLEASE by tomorrow noon it will be too late to save me from myself  GoodOlBoy

Hey Gob
Is the Winchester's bore ok? If the bore is ok and it is sound..refinish the stock and don't look back. Even refinished it'll be worth more than the Remington. Also has it got the top of the receiver milled for a scope? I have a really nice 67 Winchester and I wouldn't take less than 200 for it. Just my opinion. Get the Win if it's bore is OK

Skeet the winchester, while the durn thing is covered in light rust and the stock is dingy as heck, has a bore that looks like it is just about brand new. It has not been drilled and tapped for a scope, BUT what I was thinking about doing was putting a marbles beaded front sight and a marbles semibuckhorn rear sight on it after refinishing it. The saftey collar on it is worn BADLY and needs to be replaced. But it still cocks easy after you chamber a round, and seems to be strong (would not mind doing a spring replacement on it along with everything else.) I dunno squat about doing a blueing job, but I think I AM going to go with the winchester.

Is it a finger groove stock or plain stock?
My finger grooved 67 is the first rimfire I bought for myself well over 20 yrs ago and have since passed down to my boy. Fine shootin little single shots!

Winchester Mdl 67
Goodolboy I've cold blued two .22 rimfires and a pellet gun using Brownells Oxpho blue (Liquid) and was very happy with the results.
All three had surface rust and minor dings. The most important item is surface prep and follow the instructions that come with the Oxpho Blue. Before applying the blue I heated the barreled actions in the oven at 140* prior to applying. Can't stress enough the surface prep and having everything completly degreased. I used Brownells degreaser. I don't work for Brownells and I'm not associated with them in any manner, just passing along what worked good for me. MC
