Loading deer into truck

Does anyone have a slick way of loading a deer into the back of the truck? My Chevy 2500 sits up fairly high and I about blew out my lower back loading my buck yesterday. Luckily I had a 5-6 foot section of ladder stand in my truck which I leaned aganst the tailgate like a ramp. Then I got the hind end about 1/2 way up the ladder/ramp, then I had to lift the head and front 1/2 of the deer off the ground and slide him in. It worked OK but I'm not a big weightlifter type at all, and it was quite a chore. Other times on smaller deer I've gotten their head up on the tail gate and tied it to the anchors, then lifted the hind end in, but that's not easy either. I'm talking big Iowa deer, not mini-southern deer ;-)Thanks for any advise or homemade construction ideas.

Personally, I'd look into a game loading cart. I picked one up from Cabelas this past year after about bustin' a nut moving a heavy doe down a high ridge through heavy timber last season (incidentally, the private property that I hunt is the fourth highest elevation in the state of Illinois)

With a deer loaded, you simply turn the handles back towards your liftgate and set the handle into the liftgate and then lift the platform section with the deer back into the truck bed.

Granted, you still have all of the weight to move but it is distributed compactly and positioned to slide back once the weight shifts to the truck from the ground. I suppose that if one fashioned some roller style wheels at the back of the handle and mid-way down the cart frame, the job of loading game would be made both easier and safer yet. The wheels would begin rolling as soon as weight is shifted on them.

Sounds like a good idea. Anyhow, the camecart will help my friend!

I made a hoist that slides and bolts in the 2" receiver. Just simply hook the cable to the deer and winch it up then swivel it around to set it down in the bed. It's the same as the one I found in cabelas http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...053&hasJS=true

Beats breaking your back trying to pull the deer in by yourself.

A good pulley, a length of rope and a piece of plywood is all you need to get your deer into the back of your truck.

I think there are still stake pockets in the front of a pick up box???

Hook the pulley into the stake pocket. Run rope thru pulley. Tie off one end to something solid the other end to deer that is started up on the plywood. Slowly drive ahead.

Deer goes into pickup.

A block and tackle would do the same thing. I hung my 100 lb buck up in the tree with ease using my old fence streacher the other day.

A Come-a-long and rope. You can use various configurations depending on what nature provides, trees, rocks ...etc.

A block and tackle gives you the same leverage. I just don't care for sorting out the ropes.
