handgun stocks
Sam,
You've raised an important issue here! I've sold several semi-autos because the stocks just didn't feel right in my hand -- and they definitely affected my shooting. I like the feel of the S&W Sigma and M&P stocks but have only owned a Sigma. The stocks were nice but the gun was a dog and I sold it. Most recently, I test fired a Ruger SP9 and like its feel. However, I don't shoot 9mms, and would like to see a Ruger in 40S&W. Never held P99 but will look for an opportunity to fire one. No problem with 1911 stocks -- they feel great to me.
Many years ago, I had the same problem with revolvers. Owned a Colt and two S&Ws in 357 -- all with wooden stocks and big, flaring butts. Not only could I not shoot them well, but they hurt my hand as well (with hot loads). After some more false tries, I discovered Pachmayr Gripper rubber stocks and now have them on all my revolvers.
