shotshell question

I initially posted this in scatterguns, but thought I might cast it out here as well.

The difference between these two shells both by remington appears to be weight/velocity. I am wondering if the ShurShot Heavy dove load might not be a better load for squirrel than the standard game load.

20 Gauge Lead Game Load Shotshell, 2-3/4" Shell, #6 Shot, 7/8 oz., 1225 fps, 25 Rounds Per Box

20 Gauge ShurShot Heavy Dove Load Shotshell, 2-3/4" Shell, #6 Shot, 1 oz., 1165 fps, 25 Rounds Per Box

Any ideas/opinions? (Spring season is comming up and I am thinking about buying me a new case of shells for the heck of it.)

Guess I'd say the 1 oz. load may have the edge, just because of the extra shot. The extra velocity with the lighter load doesn't make any difference unless your Texas squirrels are a lot faster than our Wisconsin squirrels. Really which is cheaper? That probably would make up my mind. I still prefer 22rf for most of my squirrel hunting, but have to wait til Sep't.

Skwerl loads

Hey GOB
The one ounce load would be a better load for you..mainly because the shurshot load is a much better component loading. Those game loads are kinda cheaply made.(cheap shot etc) Shurshot is better shot and a better balanced load. Should squash those ol skwerls pretty well

thanks fellers that what this old boy was looking for. You got that cheap shot thing down skeet. In december I grabbed a handful of shells out of my box and went squirrel hunting. The OLD (Read 10+years) game load shells were knockin' 'em out purty well. When I got to the new ones the squirrels were laughin' at me for the most part. The estate cartridge #5s where working better, but still not great, and they are rare as hobby horse droppins around here.

The academy a few towns over has the heavy dove loads on this week for $3.47 a box plus chippin', damagin', tax, title, and license. . . . .

ANYWAY looks like I am gonna hafta make a trip down that way.
