				T/C maxi ball

If I shoot a .50 cal T/C maxi ball out of a side lock rifle w/pyrodex pellets (I have a bunch from my in-line,) what do I need for a patch/wad. The pyrodex web site says to use felt wads when shooting conicals with pyrodex pellets. But I was told by someone else that you don't need patches or wads with conicals.

You do not need a patch for a maxi, but some folks do place a wad on top of the powder and below the maxi. I do not use a wad, but maybe you can tweek a load with or without a wad. Good shooting. Adam

If I shoot cupped bottom conicals I don't need a wad. With the flat bottom conicals I shoot now I do.Really increases the accuracy.
