				You Must Be Crazy

Anyone who would even CONSIDER owning a 50 BMG must be sick, demented and totally insane. You're the guys that give the rest of us shooters a bad name. By the way, what would something like that set me back?

It sounds like you have been reading Sarah Brady's website! How does owning and shooting a .50 caliber give gun owners a bad name? I know two folks who own and shoot their .50s responsibly. I have a neighbor who has two Civil War cannons and he shoots them in his hayfield and at reenactments. As I recall, a Barrett will run about $2,000+/-; Muledeer will have the "hang tag" price. I noticed .50 BMG reloading data in one of the recent handloading manuals. Adam

I think Contenderizer was joking. Kind of like saying "your car is a hunk of junk" and then opening his garage to show you he has the exact same one.

I suspect you are right. If not, then we all know some folks do not like pistols, "plastic guns", semi-autos and on and on. Adam

I paid $2,800 from a 77 year old retired Marine Sarg/Major at a gym that I go to. He decided he didn't really need it and it was "new in box". M 99's sell for about $3,400 (I think).

$7.50 a shot reloaded with your own brass i believe.

1000 shots would cost about 7,500 dollars. I bet a used one would not be shot out.

I don't know but I've been told it's hard to swim with the weight of gold. On the other hand I have heard it said it's just as hard with the weight of lead. |

I will save you BIG BUCKS on your .50 BMG ammo purchases. On page 8 of Cabela's "Shooting Reloading 2007" catalog that came to my mailbox today it says, ".50 BMG 650-Gr. Ball Per 50 $94.99." That is about $2.00 per round, so save much. Adam

Adam, I got a good laugh a while back while in OK. I had some time to kill while waiting for a skip to get home. We took a break and went to a gun shop, nice one, in McCallister. There was a 50cal set up with front and back pods and great scope. The package was a little over 5k. Right beside it was a stack of pamphlets for financing. I started laughing and the guy behind the counter said they finance alot of guns thru a loan company. As long as the loans over a c note they will do it.

I had to laugh. When I start FINANCING guns, Im pretty sure I will be single. LOL

My wife would kill me if I financed a gun. Credit is one huge problem with our society. Too many people want everything right now, and there is a lot of everything out there.

Financing things you buy for a hobby is utterly nuts, but I guess plenty of people do it.

I don't own one, don't really want one, its overkill for hunting. but reloading isn't that bad, the powder for those things is 4 bucks a pound, so you could reload for real cheap. I shoot the same powder in my 7mm Allen Mag (7mm/338 lapua Imp.)

Got a cousin who has one, and I have shot it, basicly its a high dollar toy, unless your a sniper you don't need such a beast, I can take deer out to 800 yds with my 7mm AM and it is capable to 1500 if my abilities were up to par. RR
