Thumbs up The best whitetail hunt EVER

I took a nice buck friday morning, and saw a nice young 9 point that I thought would be perfect for one of my 2 youngest siblings. Took my little sister out saturday night, and he chased a doe right past us. Grunted to stop him at 20 yards, and she hammered him. Perfect shot. And then all heck broke loose. As soon as I heard the arrow strike, I said "You got him!". And she went absolutely nuts. I had to hold her still to keep her from spooking the buck, and he dropped after going only 50 yards - we got to watch him fall. I've never seen anyone so excited over anything in my life! After some heart-wrenching misses, she finally connected. And she's the only one in our family whose first deer was a buck. This beats any experience I've ever had in the woods by far. A big congrats to my little sis for finally breaking the ice in a big way!

Hey Man

I'm tickled for ya and your sis too. Love to see the gals getting into the hunting game. In all the 30 odd years of waterfowl guiding I did.. the best shot I ever had in the blind was a gal. It was bang flop EVERY time. Congrats to both of ya. Think she looks happy?

Lilred,

I'm doing a european/skull mount. I've got 2 shoulder mounts already, and this one will look really neat with the skull and antlers. However, the cape and head of my sister's deer is in the freezer and will go to the taxidermist tomorrow. Larger deer may come, but none will be bigger than this one. What an awesome experience to be able to see her take her first deer.

skeet,

can't take the smile off her face. I think it's permanent. LOL

Congraulations of getting your deer, and big congratulations to your sister on getting not only her first deer but her first buck.

She has a great smile in that picture.

Thanks everyone. This was something I hope everyone gets to experience at least once (I don't know if I could handle it again, LOL!)

congrats

Congratulations to you and your sis. I can tell from the way you talk that you probably enjoyed the hunt with your sis more than any hunt you've been on. Tell your sis she got her a nice buck.
