looking at either fx11 2 power or fx111 2.5x8 variable. leaning towards the 2 power for more field of view. thank you |

The Burris is a better scope and the Weaver is as good for a lot less money. First, forget the 2x. If you must have a scope go with a fixed 4x. I have owned several copies of the 2x, 4x and variable by Leupold. The 4x is just a better choice. It gives some magnification and still retains a large field of view. The 2x appears, in use, to have no magnification at all. With the V scopes, all of them, the increase in power results in a shorter eye relief and reduced focal cone diameter. What you do not need is a 500 held up close to your face.

The other side of the coin is that if you want a large field of view with no magnification go with the red dot 2 moa. The best 2 moa dot is made by Gilmore, now Leupold/Gilmore. Nothing matches the red dots for field of view except iron sights. Ed

Go with the Leupold. Eather the 2X which will be lighter and have alittle more field of vision and is all you need for hunting. OR The 2 1/2 x 8, it will be heaver and not come up quite as fast but will be better from the bench. Forget Burrius, I have owned 4 of them and 3 of the 4 were screwed up. I have owned well over 30 Leupolds and the only problem I`ve had with them was because I dropped a 13 lb. gun on the bell of the scope.
