Load data?
I am wanting to reload some 41 mags tonite, I have never relaoded this round. None of my data matches what I have on hand. I have 215 hard cast SWC bullets from Missouri Bullet Co., but the only powders I have are Unique and 700X. But I don't have any books nor can I find anything on the net that shows loads for that configuration.
Anyone got a safe load for either the Unique or 700X? I could go and buy some 1100 or Bullseye I guess, I just hate to.

Critch,
I think the FIRST thing you need to go buy is a current reloading manual listing .41 Magnum loads. There are loads therein for Unique and your cast bullets. The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook says on page 274 the Unique charges for the 215 grain cast bullet are: 7.8 grains for 979 fps and the MAXIMUM is 10.4 grains of Unique for 1214 fps. The overall length is listed as 1.575". Adam

It has been a long time since I had a 41 mag. I believe though that I used 10 grains of Unique with a bullet similar to the one you mentioned. It was not a maximum load round. It shot well. I agree with Adam Helmer though. Best to buy a good manual. For cast loads I like the Lyman manual a lot. But there are others that are likely as good.

I have not used either Unique or 700X in my .41 Mag. I use IMR SR7625 with cast bullets. It is an uncommon shotgun powder that works well in 12 gauge handicap loads. I find it especially good for the .41 Mag with cast bullets of the 215 grain weight as commercially cast. I shoot them at about 1050 fps and have not had a leading problem at the velocity. My load is 8 grains of SR7625 using a CCI 300 primer and either RP or WW cases. Pleasant to shoot and very accurate.

I should have mentioned, my problem was that I could only find one of my reloading manuals and it was old, old, old. I called today and my gunshop is holding a copy of a new manual, I think it's Speer.
I called about the 7625 and they have it on hand, I may try it if I have the money.

Critch, If you try it, I think you will like the performance. If your .41 is new, you may experience some leading until the barrel is broke in. Contact me if it is a problem. larryjk@tribcsp.com
