				Mossberg slug gun question

Just picked up a like-new Mossberg 835 combo (since I didnt really have anything that would throw a slug)

Anyone use a 835 for deer? What slugs does yours prefer ? I'd like to have a starting place for ammo before I hit the range thanks

I don't know but I've been told it's hard to swim with the weight of gold. On the other hand I have heard it said it's just as hard with the weight of lead. |

We've had good luck with remington's copper solids, in most of the slug guns we shoot. Also lightfields, and the old BRI sabots. By a very good margin, 2 3/4" slugs seem to be more accurate. JMHO

I shoot 2 3/4 Rem Solid Copper out of my 11-87. Too much stuff comes and goes as far as ammo. The Solid Copper seems to have grabbed a foot hold and has the possibility of staying around for a while.

Mine will shoot about 3" groups at 100 yds. Figure its good out to 125 or 150 which is more than enough for the Woodlots of NewEngland. |

				835 Back Bored Barrels

Just make sure you only attempt to shoot slugs out of that 835 using a barrel designated as safe to use with slugs. The smooth-bore barrels are all back-bored, making them unsafe to shoot with slugs. All the smooth-bore barrels for my 835 say this on the barrel. You do have to read it though. This is also addressed in the owner's manual. However, since I got the impression that you got your gun used, you may not have gotten the owner's manual. You are probably already aware of this but I figured I'd point it out in case you weren't.
