				Rebuilding a Winchester Model 70

A good friend of mine was out hunting during this week's deer season opener. He was riding a four wheeler in the dark up to his deer stand and rolled the vehicle on a steep embankment. He was bruised, but otherwise unhurt. His Winchester Model 70 was on the four wheeler and took a major hit. I have not seen the rifle yet, however I have it on good authority that the stock is in four pieces. I asked about the action, barrel and scope and was told that the owner was too upset to do a close inspection. I will get the rifle this weekend and cannot wait to see the extent of the damage. I have a stock for the rifle. Oh, well. All the best...

4-Wheelers and horses are just about the worst things that can happen to nice rifles.

Thanks for the offer. The rifle is a post-'64 push feed and I have not seen it yet. All the best...
