I haven't shot a R1 but do own and hunt a lot with a BAR MarkII lightweight in 30-06.
Really like the rifle. 20" Barrel is fine for the woods hunting we do around here. Never had a jam. Being a handloader I can usually get 1" moa or less. Would I buy another one. You bet. As I remember the price on a R1 was over $1000. The BAR runs around $650.
