Remington 597

Mickey,

Congrats on getting your 597. I think you will be happy with it, and it's a great value. I took Andre's suggestion and bought the Volquartsen hammer. Haven't installed it yet but will before year end. Accuracy is great off the bench but that new hammer (and maybe some other trigger work) is needed to achieve some practical accuracy.

I have several rimfire scopes but still need another good one for the 597. I want a variable -- something of the order of 2X on the low end. A Leupold RF Compact 2X-7X costs more than the 597 did. Weaver sells a 2x7 at lower cost and Burris used to have one. Bushnell, Simmons and Tasco all sell rimfire scopes. Any thoughts on the best one to get?
