Dan Morris,

I understand Singer had a WWII limited "Educational Contract" to build M1911A1 pistols and did make 500 of them and stopped.

I saw a Singer M1911A1 once that laid in a damp cellar for a few years in the GI holster after the demise of the WWII veteran. The pistol was solid rust! If you put your Singer in a safe deposit box, be sure to heavily grease it (inside and out) and wrap it in kraft paper to perserve your treasure.

One more thing: Many banks will NOT allow firearms to be placed in safe deposit boxes. So, maybe, it is a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" scenario. Another thing, most banks do NOT insure stuff in safe deposit boxes, so maybe you need to separately schedule that Singer by serial number with your insurorer.

Adam
