I am sorry for the confusion; you are correct that 80 grains of shot is a TINY payload in a 12 gauge.

Thanks roundball for the clarification. With shotguns, the "Rule of Thumb" is "volume for volume." Hence, with the powder measure set at 80 grains for powder, that same volume of shot is considered a pretty good load. The shot that would fill the powder measure set at 80 grains is about 1 and 1/8 ounces.

PS. I tried to use the 12 gauge over powder card wads, but could not get them into the gun's muzzle because they are too hard and too large. The fiber wads were a nice snug fit and gave nice patterns.
