The 270 is an excellent choice for deer. I use a 270 Weatherby mag and 130 gr ballistic tip handloads. Been using that load for years. Deer bow in its presents
Anyone that says that a 270 is not a good caliber for deer is just plan "nuts". I load 130 gr ballistic tips over 69 gr of IMR 4831. Over 20 mulies with this 270. It doesn't matter whether its a 270 Wea, 270 Win, or a 270 WSM, deer don't know the difference.
