Used to vote primarily republican in most elections....I no longer do so after a bad experience several years ago. Voted 'party line' and got one bad rep who was supposedly a republican, but voted antigun, antihunting, voted to raise taxes, voted for every social program that came down the pike, ect.
The problem I have with both parties is that they feel that they have more loyalty to their respective parties than they do to their constituents. I now vote for the candidates that most likely represent my feelings, mores, and beliefs, and have voted libertarian in the last several elections because of this.....

Having said that: Adam, your lucky that the canvaser didn't try and have the EPA shut down your casting session due to all the 'toxic lead' fumes you were spewing in the neighborhood.....gun control and antihunting folks are now trying the 'back door' approach and using other agencies (such as the EPA) to do the dirty work that they haven't been able to get done. Anyone who doubts this just needs to look at the lead bullet ban in California and the recent attempt by a handful to get ALL lead bullets banned.

....and let's not forget:
The wonderful "Assault weapons ban" that was brought to us by the Clinton administration (and supported by George Bush Sr, a republican); that ban went so far as to prevent gang bangers from getting assault rifles and shooting each other......Oh, wait...no, it didn't!

...and the attempt by the Clinton administration to put "taggants' in gun powder so that if someone blew up a building, they could track down who it was (but there was no attempt to put taggants in fuel oil or ammonium nitrate).

....and the idiotic New Jersey senator that proposed banning 50 caliber and larger muzzleloaders because she heard some where that a 50 caliber rifle could be used as a 'sniper rifle' and that these '50 calibers' were dangerous (aren't all guns potentially dangerous?) and our "308 caliber" sniper rifles (same as the military uses....you and I probably call 'em "deer rifles") aren't as dangerous as those damn "50 calibers"!

....Or the "enlightened" report in the S.E. Michigan area who made the statement about the "semiautomatic revolver" that was used in a crime!

I truly feel that the world is full of idiots anymore.....I gotta work with a lot of them every day, and as I get older I am tired of suffering fools, so I speak out in the break room when these topics come up, even though it's not "politically correct". Too many folks are ready to sign a petition today to "do the right thing" without having A CLUE to what they are signing or what the potential consequences might be, and that's the problem. If you don't believe this, go to youtube and look up "Penn & Teller's DiHydrogen Monoxide ban". I think you will be amazed......I know I was!

BTW: I did a few casting sessions last week myself! Casted up a bunch of SWC for the .357 magnums and some 30 cal FPs for my .30/30.....and now the weather has turned hot & humid again!
