House Stops DHS Ammo Purchase
U.S.House votes to stop massive DHS ammo purchases
On Wednesday night, the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives voted to bar the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from purchasing anymore ammunition until DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano explains to Congress why her agency has recently acquired a stockpile in excess of 1.6 billion rounds. Initially, Napolitano claimed reports of the unprecedented purchases were false, and later simply refused to answer any questions on the matter. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) sponsored the amendment to the DHS 2014 budget.
