I think the advantage of a climber is that you can get into places that havn't been hunted. You can move to places as the deer change habits, which can be important in farm country. I think the advantage of a ladder stand is that it can be set up on a good trail/trails and left there. When it comes time to hunt it's alot less work to getting into the spot and setting up all the while remaining quiet. Ladder stands and hang ons get the advantage on the edges of fields also where alot of times theres not a suitable tree to climb. I do however prefer ladder stands that are 20ft. Especially for bow hunting. Hunters ridge makes some nice stands that are 15ft. You can buy a 5 ft extension for them thats less than $30.
