Change in color / odor of Oxyoke & TC patches

I bought a large supply a few years ago. Haven't used 'em all yet. It was my understanding T/C used bore butter for their pre-lubes.

I just bought some more bore butter and it smells the same. That stuff smells almost as good as Hoppes #9.
