Talking First yote

I finally called a coyote in today. I've been tryin for the last year and after takin some of ur guys advice i finally got one. I wanted to go this mornin but i didn't get much sleep last night so when i did wake up and got all the chores and thjings around the house done it was the whole day for huntin. I got out there at about 2:20 and waited for ten minutes before i started calling. i started with a lone coyote/wolf. after doin that a few times i hit the cottontail destress twice. About half way through the third sequence i looked up and saw him comin right for me about 30 yrds out( mind u this is michigan and 60 yrds would be a long way to see). I wistled for him to stop when he got in an opening but he never stopped and dissappeared behind a tree. A couple seconds later he popped back out in the same opening and i gave him a 55 grain 30 06 through the lungs. He dropped right there but got back up and stumbled 10 more yrds before expireing. It was a little male that had mange from his tail to his shoulders( not a pretty site) but i didn't care. I've hunted alot of different things and that's got to be up with the top hunts. It was awesome!

Congratulations!

Getting the occasional mangy coyote out of the population does the individual and the rest of them a favor.

One of the keys to good coyote calling is having real faith that it works. Your whole approach to it will be more effective if you know they *will* come if they hear it and you have been undetected. You now have that advantage.

I find calling a very exciting way to hunt. We have tried to encorporate it into all our big game hunting too.

Is there somewhere near Marne (sp) I think Marne is more east? I bought one of my dirtbikes up there in the spring. I need to get out and start calling.
