I know how you feel, i didnt get any g-hogs, or p-dogs at all this year, just tree-rats and some of their ground hugging cousins. and 1 opossum.
i did however solve my 8mm mauser/scope problem, since i cant really nount a scope on the hakim, i picked up a turk mauser. still redmists just fine
