In my opinion and experience, the BEST squirrel load is the "FIOCCHI GOLDEN PHEASANT" 12 gauge 1 3/8 oz. of copper-plated #5's. They are a bit more expensive than WAL-Mart's, and harder to find - but worth the difficulty.
Cabela's and BassPro usually have them in the fall. I buy several boxes at a time.
