Student fights write-up for US flag display

Fabs, didn't get that at all. The below info leads me to think otherwise:

Malia said other students also were told to put flags away, including a friend who was told one day before Malia's encounter to put away an American flag bandana.

Seeing that spurred Malia – after talking it over with her mother, Nikki Fontana – to take the small flag to school the next day.

If the school had been up on its civic duties, this may not have made the papers at all. I've seen flag t-shirts, hats, etc while in high school so this probably isn't the 2nd time this has happened for this school.
At first glance she reminds me of being of American Indian ancestry. The logo for the school doesn't help either.
