Scopes

I too sold quite a few BSA and Tasco scopes when I had the gun shop. The early Tasco scopes were pretty well made. Most of the BSA scopes I sold were the higher powered variables. A friend put one(6X24 Platinum) on a Ruger 22-250 a few years ago and it hasn't varied a bit since it was sighted in. Mostly the same with the others I sold. Most people really can't afford a 600 buck rifle and an 800 buck scope all to one time, lessen they save all year to buy the one rig...and then they usually compromise on the scope a bit. Even with my buying at wholesale for most things it gets very expensive. I started using some of the Bushnell Elites(4200 and 3200) and quite a few of the Nikon Buckmasters. Hey a 4.5x14 Buckmaster Nikon is over 200 bucks cheaper wholesale than a comparable Leupold. And the clarity of the Nikon is right up there with the leupold. I also have used and will continue to use Bushnell Trophy scopes. Very close to the 3200 Elites. I bought a combo deal(3 actually) to take to the last gun show I did earlier this month. Bushnell Trophy 3X9X40 with a 20 power spotter. Sold two of them at 100 bucks apiece. They really aren't a bad deal for most hunters. But there is a lot of difference between hunters and riflemen. Still all in all, If you're gonna have to compromise on something..do it on the rifle. Get the best scope you can AFFORD
