It may be just me, but I think that the Savage model 99 was the hightech levergun.
I know everyone has their own opinions, but it was and is, well made, capable of using any bullet type, and had no problems mounting scopes. sure it doesnt have the capacity of some leveguns, but the ones that hold more, are usually handgun cartridges, not centerfire rifle rounds. just my .02
