Every time I have seen data listed for both AA 8700 and H 870 in the same cartridge, the loads listed have been within 1 to 1.5 grains of each other.
In the 264 Winchester, where I have used both powders, they are essentially the same. I've always suspected they are the same powder packaged by different companies- but keep in mind, that's just my hunch, not hard data. Were it my rifle, in an 06 sized case, I would cut H 870 data 2 grains and work up, if I couldn't find data for AA 8700. Even if they are the same powder, there are lot to lot variations, as you know.
