I started out reducing 30-06 brass to 6.5 for my two 6.5x06 guns. The result is uneven necks that will not trim to even lengths in every instance, untill the brass has been fired a few times. You also loose a few pieces as you go.

It is always better to reduce the least amount you can, and to use brass long enough to be able to trim it properly. So use the 270 brass to start with if you feel you must reduce. The 270 cartridge is longer than the 06 brass and will allow you to trim it out correctly on the first try, plus it is simple to reduce in a FL die.

However, my suggestion would be to start with 25x06 brass and do not fool with the micky mouse BS of trying to make your own brass. Midsouth sells bulk brass in plastic bags and usually has about the best prices on brass.
