I have been a M70 fan for many years. I got my first new M70 in 1957 and now have a battery of pre 64 70s.

I enjoy many of the design features of the old M70's including that safety that controls the firing pin and is three position as well. The CRF that most have is what I want as well along with no tiny springs or hooks being extractors.

I looked at a new M70 recently and it had that good Featherweight barrel contour that I like. However the safety was noisy on the way off. Some of the older ones are like that too.

I am tired of that curved checkering pattern on the Featherweights.

Recently I have been buying and hunting with Kimbers as they weigh less.

I can't wait to get my hands on one. My they are sure making them sound like the reincarnation of the Rifleman's rifle on their web page. With a bowed head I say, Oh Lord, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let us recieve our beloved Model 70 back and please Lord, don't let them screw them up
