A .270 will definitely work on moose. And, as everyone says, shot placement is key. 150gr bullets would be preferred. I am partial to the Remington Core Lokts and the Federal Vital Shoks (both have 150gr options - I like the Nosler Partition on Fed's VS), but most bullets in that weight would be fine.
