It depends
I have quite a few military surplus rifles and enjoy playing around with them. My first surplus arm was a WWI .303 British Enfield that cost $15.88 back in 1958 and I still have it. I have acquired a few .303 Enfields since then and like them. Other favorites are the 8mm Mauser, 7.5X55 Swiss, 7.62X54 Russian, 7.7 Japanese, 6.5 and 7.35mm Carcano, 7.65 Belgian Mauser, 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser and the 7x57mm. I have a few 8mm Steyr rifles, but ammo has always been hard to find. All the best...
