skeet,

I do not understand the "too many grizz" statement. IF he had a right to be where he was, then so what? WHAT does he carry NOW or does he keep out of grizz country?

I do not like the Colt M1860 because I think the M1858 Remington New Army is a better gun then (circa 1861) and now. If it is for resale, grab it and sell it to someonw who never saw the Remington.

Adam

Well Adam

What he meant was that there are way too many grizzlies in the area he traveled in. It is dangerous at times in the right(or wrong) places. If you shoot a grizzly the darn thing had better be chewing on your butt before you shoot. The darn things are on the ESL and the gummit is all over you like stink if you shoot one. Boy got mauled by one last year calling elk for his father. Father killed it with an absolutely lucky shot to the carotid artery. They took 'em back up to where the bear was killed the next day to do a reenactment of the whole thing. The fellow just said he sold his horses and packing gear and said to heck with it. BTW many people don't realize that most of the grizzlies in this area are ones that were too dangerous to keep in the Park(Yellowstone) because they were not afraid of people and traveled the roads looking for handouts..or whatever they could take. They did a study here and while the average grizzly eats approx 80% vegetation etc in this area the avrage grizz eats 60% meat..or so the article in the paper said. I don't know how they figure that..I guess they go looking for bear poop..and check it Oh the guy and his wife both carry large bore handguns..44's I think. I think one of the reasons he quit was because his wife is not able to get around like she could. ..feared for her safety I guess.
