I'm no expert (heck, I'm just starting out myself!), but it's my understanding that to produce beaver you need to use either lure (castor) or find where they have been coming on land, and in either case you will need to set up a 'funnel' using sticks to guide them into the trap. If you have it, hawbaker's book has some good illustrations. I'll see if I can find anything on the net to show what I"m talking about.

Here is a good video on setting a beaver set that I found on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXj2q...eature=related For the 'funnel' I was talking about, imagine sticks going out into the water from where the guy is standing in a "V" shape, with him at the bottom of the V. Good luck!

The easiest palce to catch beaver, coon, mukrats, or mine is where they enter and leave the water. Keep your traps in the water and under the water.

My laptop has been at the shop getting work done. But the last week of March I caught 3 beavers, 1 coon, and 3 snapping turtles. One of the turtles was huge. But it seems like after I catch one beaver none of its family members are falling for the "trick". They have figured out how set off the traps w/o getting caught or just flip it over. But I'm not concentrating on it a lot now cause our cotton mouths are out like crazy.
