				Hey Larry

I bought an old Winchester 54 in 30-06 at the last gun show. It is a carbine 20 inch bbl. Nice rifle..seriously...but it has an atrocious trigger. I think it will accept a timney trigger for a M-70 but will have to be fitted. Can you do it for me??. I'm a bit leery about doing rifle triggers. Smith triggers are ok..but rifles..nah. I think I will carry it elk hunting. 165 gr Barnes X ought to work ok.. even the 150 should do it too. Those X bullets are wicked.

If anybody has any other load suggestions i am open to hearing about anything that you like.

I still shoot my Fathers 54 in .270. Date on barrel is 1926, how old is yours?

mine is the "improved" version and the serial number equates to 1934. May have paid a bit much but it is in exc condition...and it is the carbine version which is a bit more rare. Just had to try it

Skeet, If you are talking to me in Rawlins, my e-mail is larryjk@tribcsp.com. If you want me to fit the Timeny trigger for you, get the trigger and come on down. In by 9, out by 5; if we have everything we will need. Right now it is getting crazy for the pre-season " fix my rifle " pleas. It is Sunday and I am doing 4 muzzlebrakes so I can blue them this week when I do two new barrel jobs. Send me an e-mail with your telephone number and I will give you a call if you want that done so we can arrange to be at the same place at the same time. I am going to be out of here for a few days around 9/10 to help son take a book antelope and get one for myself.

The date manufactured should be stamped in the bottom of the barrel on a 54. Take a look.
