I am curious; you need to carry CCW, but "not on your person?"

Also keep in mind most ccw laws require you to be in control of you gun at all times. If it is not on your person are you in control of it? Locked in a car counts in Texas but I don't know about elsewhere.
O.K., let me clarify a bit.....I need a firearm "with me", but not "on me". Michigan law also allows a firearm in a locked car, but as you stated, it's not under your control and there have been a lot of break ins. Also, I need the gun going to and from my vehicle....it does me no good locked inside. A sidearm on me would be seen while changing, hence the need to keep it somewhere else.
Does that clear things up a little bit? Also, the gun would be in very close proximity to me (but not 'on' me) at all times.
