Johnny Reb,

Nice target. What is that a .50 or .62 caliber? I read an article a few years back about sharpening flints with a whet stone. I finally got the hang of it and keep my flints sharp that way because I cannot knap. I sharpen the flints right in the hammer jaws. I use a piece of scrap leather to shield the barrel while using the abrasive stone.

A couple times a year, I pull the lock and clean and lightly oil the lockwork for fast lock time. Hope this helps.
