UPDATE:

Today, being Thursday, the Tioga Militia met at the local gunshop. We had nine members present for roll call. We had a new No.4 Mk1 full military rifle on the used gun rack adjacent to the prior mentioned $799.00 "Gem" with a hang tag of $425.00.

The Militia looked over the new $425.00 rifle. It was made in 1943, it appears unissued with a two-groove barrel. This is the FIRST No.4 I ever saw with a "0" Bolthead. The rifle is Excellent in and out. My concern is lack of any information on either side of the metal at the "wrist" of the buttstock other than serial number which matches with the bolt and "1943." The left side of the receiver merely says "No 4 Mk 1."

The rifle is a nice specimen for a WWII arm. The bolt closes with a slight crunch fit with the miniumum, "0" bolthead. It will sit on the rack for a long time. I may make an offer come July or August.
