Skeet,
Had that exact discussion with my son and daughter over the years. You loved X for what they were at the time you met them, so if you change them to what you want, are they still going to be that person you loved, NO. Accept them as they are, leave them alone. And if it all fits easy, it will work just fine, but you can not recut the piece of the giant puzzle that is a human, to make it fit. Ed
