Well, I adopted it.....95+ condition. With my Winchester cheat sheet, !954
production. Unlike Petey, I just have a thing over ole Winchesters. Dan  Oh well, another for the kids to inherit..........................................

Nice find!
I think I would have bought it, too. Is the Balfor scope a plain Balfor (adjustments in the mount) or a Balfor B. Reason I ask is, the B&L mount with the adjustments in it is in some demand. I've seen them go for 150$. 1954 should be the plain Balfor, if the rifle was scoped when originally purchased. The Balfor B was B&L's first internal; adjustment scopes - quite good scopes, for their era, but not up to today's glass, especially the lens coating.

Jack, it's a plain Balfor.........originally scoped and used only twice. Bought it off a lady at church that knew I hunted. Late hubby used it twice and put it up.
Due to circumstances I didn't feel like negotiating much. Dan

I like pre-64 Winchesters and the price is right. If I liked it, it would have come home with me. All the best...

GO for that pre-64! A few years ago I got a Model 70 .30-06 made in 1939 for $400 with a Koll-Morgan scope from that era. It is my annual Opening Day Rifle Deer firearm. Happily, my 150 grain JSP handload is +1.5 inches at 100 yards. Pre-64 Winchesters are an "endangered" Species. In that same lot I got a M1894 .30-30 Rifle with octagon barrel made in 1918. I use that rifle for woods hunting here in PA. Remember, we are ONLY Custodians of our treasured firearms, for a while. One day someone else will hold our treasured arms. Go for what pleases YOU!
